FAQs
& Stats.

Here, we aim to provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about installing a solar energy system for your business. Read on to find answers to some common questions we receive from our Solar4Business customers.

How long will the installation take?

Different sized systems will take differing amounts of time. Once you have signed the contract, we will advise of the approximated time to complete the job, however we aim to do all our works within the day.

Can I sell my excess energy back to you?

We do not buy the energy back from you if there is excess. We will look to optimise the system size, to ensure there is no wasted energy being transferred back to your supplier.

Who do I send my energy bill and signed contract back to?

Please talk to the advisor you initially spoke to on the phone or email, however if you cannot get hold of them please email [email protected] where one of the area managers will update you within 24 hours.

What are the benefits of installing solar?

Installing solar panels offers several benefits. Here are a few:

Reduced electricity bills: Solar panels generate clean, renewable energy from the sun, which can significantly lower your electricity costs.

Environmentally friendly: Solar energy is a sustainable and green source of power that helps reduce carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels.

Energy independence: By generating your own electricity, you become less dependent on the grid, giving you more control over your energy consumption.

Financial incentives: Many regions offer incentives which can further enhance the financial benefits of solar installation.

Increased property value: Solar panels can increase the value of your home, making it more attractive to potential buyers.

How often do I need to replace my solar panels?

Solar panels are designed to be durable and long-lasting, typically with a lifespan of 25 to 30 years or more. While the panels themselves are built to withstand various weather conditions, it is possible for individual components to degrade over time. However, with proper maintenance and regular cleaning, solar panels can continue to operate efficiently for decades. It is recommended to have a professional inspection every few years to ensure optimal performance and address any potential issues.

What is the energy return rate for your solar panels?

The energy return rate, also known as the energy payback period, refers to the time it takes for a solar panel system to generate the same amount of energy that was used in its manufacturing and installation. This rate varies depending on factors such as the type of solar panels, location, and local solar resources. On average, modern solar panels have an energy return rate of 1 to 4 years, meaning they can offset the energy used in their production within a relatively short period. After the energy return period, solar panels continue to produce clean energy for many years.

What is the installation process for solar panels?

The installation process for solar panel bundles typically involves the following steps:

Site assessment: A solar professional evaluates your property, assesses solar potential, determines roof orientation, and considers shading issues.

Design and planning: Based on the assessment, a solar system design is created, including the number and placement of solar panels, inverters, and other necessary components.

Permits and approvals: The installer handles the necessary permits, applications, and approvals required by local authorities and utility companies.

Mounting and panel installation: Racking or mounting equipment is installed on the roof or ground, and solar panels are securely mounted according to the design.

Electrical work: Wiring, including the connection between the panels, inverters, and the electrical system, is performed by a licensed electrician.

Inverter and system setup: The inverter, which converts DC power from the panels into AC power for use in your home, is installed and connected to the electrical system.

System testing and activation: The installer performs tests to ensure the system is functioning properly and coordinates with the utility company to activate your solar system.

Final inspections and paperwork: Inspections may be conducted by the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with regulations. The installer finalises any required documentation.

How long does it take to install solar?

The time required to install a solar panel system can vary depending on factors such as the size and complexity of the installation, the availability of components, and the weather conditions. In general, a residential solar installation can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to complete. The process includes various stages, such as site assessment, design, permits, equipment procurement, installation, and final inspections. Delays can occur due to factors beyond the installer’s control, but a reputable installer should provide you with an estimated timeline before starting the project.

Where should I install solar panels?

Solar panels are typically installed on rooftops or ground-mounted in areas with ample sunlight. The ideal location for solar panels is a south-facing roof or an area that receives maximum sun exposure throughout the day. Avoid shading from trees, buildings, or other obstructions, as they can reduce the efficiency of the solar panels. However, solar panels can still generate power in less optimal orientations, such as east or west-facing roofs, depending on the specific circumstances. A solar professional can assess your property and provide guidance on the best location for your solar panel installation.

How much should I expect to pay someone to install my solar kit?

The cost of professional installation for a solar panel kit can vary depending on factors such as the size of the system, complexity of the installation, location, and the specific installer or company. Installation costs typically include labour, permits, electrical work, and any additional materials required. You can get in touch with us for a more definitive quote.
